A note from Tamsin

Tamsin DunwoodyI wanted to tell you about the most important thing in my life – family.

I don't need advisers and focus groups to tell me what to say. My family is waiting for me every time I get home after a hard days work. As a mum of five I know what it’s like to bring up a family. It is the most rewarding and challenging experience in life.

I know people are feeling the pinch with grocery and fuel bills on the up. And many of you are facing difficulties – my job will be to make sure your concerns are listened to and action is taken to sort out those problems.

You told me your concerns about the impact of the removal of the 10p tax rate. I got straight on the phone to the Chancellor to tell him that when economy is uncertain hardworking families should be able to keep more of their own money. And the government is taking action.

The Government have increased personal tax allowances for basic rate tax payers. A family tax cut of £120 at a time when things are tight.

The things that matter to you and your family are the same things that affect me and my family. Getting young people and first time buyers on the property ladder and guaranteeing local kids the best schools. We need to help families ease the pressures of work and family life with more flexible working and childcare options.

I know what it’s like to do the school run, organise childcare and balance the family budget. Crewe and Nantwich needs an MP that understands family life.

The Tories just don’t get it. During this campaign they have said nothing about childcare and flexible working hours.

They try to win votes by pretending to understand normal family life. But they fought extending maternity leave and the right to request flexible working. And it gets worse, now they want to cut to investment to our local Sure Start services.

On 22 May your choice is between a working mother or a Tory boy who has nothing to say on these issues.

My promise to you is that I will always fight for a better deal for families in Crewe and Nantwich.

Yours sincerely,

Tamsin Dunwoody
