Constituency About Thirsk & Malton | ||
Thirsk and Malton will be a new constituency coming into existence after the next general election scheduled for Spring 2010. Its boundaries stretch from Thirsk and Easingwold in the west, all the way over to Filey on the east coast, taking in Helmsley, Pickering, Malton, Norton and countless villages and hamlets along the way. The total population will exceed 100,000, making it one of the largest Parliamentary constituencies in the country. The first Thirsk & Malton constituency was formed in 1885, but a hundred years later the boundaries changed to form the Ryedale and Vale of York constituencies.
