Gwyn first started pressing primary care executives to provide a modern Heath Centre for Aylesham in 2003 after being lobbied by the local Parish Council and, in particular, the late Cllr Helen Bartollo. And on the 20th January he had the privilege of officially opening the new centre and acknowledging Helen’s contribution to the project.
In his speech, Gwyn paid tribute to everyone who played a part in creating the new facility and went on to say:
“We’ve all been on a long journey over the last seven years but Aylesham can now boast as having a modern state-of-the-art Health Centre which provides direct access to a whole series of NHS services and therapies on one site – complete with its own pharmacy. The journey has been well worthwhile because at long last Aylesham has the sort of health centre it deserves”
