Last week marked the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the NHS and it was also 'Volunteers Week' when we celebrate the work of volunteers who give their time freely to help others.
In recognition of both these events No 10 Downing Street held a special reception for volunteers who work within the NHS. John was delighted to invite Susan Birdsall of Carlton-in-Lindrick who coordinates the work of the volunteers at Bassetlaw Hospital. The hospital regards her as being central to the success of the work of volunteers for many years.
John Mann said "The dedication and commitment of volunteers deserves recognition. At Bassetlaw Hospital they play a key role in ensuring that the patients experience is as smooth and easy as possible. I know that staff at the hospital highly value the work of Susan Birdsall so I was very pleased to accompany her on her visit to number 10. This was a perfect way of celebrating the 60th birthday of the NHS and the wonderful work of volunteers".
Susan has volunteered at Bassetlaw Hospital for eighteen years and staff were very quick to nominate Susan in recognition of her work and commitment. |
