Please could you debate dental charges, my daughter is 15yrs of age and needs a brace to her top teeth, my dentist informs me that 2yrs ago this would have been done free of charge on the NHS seemingly the goal posts have been moved and i now have to pay privately for this treatment even though my daughter is still only 15yrs old! The tratment will cost me £1,600 possibly more because I may have to pay for the consultation fees, surely this can't be right . My Husband and I have been tax payers since the age of 16 (now 48 & 49 respectfully)and labour supporters to boot! how are ordinary people expected to fund this type of thing along with university fees (next year incidentaly for other child ) do the people who have changed the goal posts for dental care, treatment etc actually know what these orthodontist's are charging? I dont know what you think about the cost but I feel it is bordering on the obscene. My friend also had to pay private for her child who unfotunately had 2 braces in place at a cost of £2,800! I would welcome your comments, many thanks.

Re dental charges,I couldn't agree more. "Our" NHS is rapidly being dismantled. You may be interested to know that my daughter,a graduate Physiotherapist (2007)in common with thousands of other graduates from NHS funded Physiotherapy degree courses has been unable to find NHS employment as a Physiotherapist.It costs the NHS £30,000 to train a Physiotherapist. Presumably training Physiotherapists for unemployment, despite patients crying out for their services, is being funded by extortionate dental charges for children!

What are your comments regarding the abolition of the 10% tax band. Do you think that this conveys a positive message to lower paid people? Can you also comment on the proportion of people who earn above the average wage in Bassetlaw.

I am appalled by the abolition of the 10p tax band and incredulous that it has been brought in by a labour government. Some of the poorest members of society are single and childless, so will not recoup the extra tax paid in benefits.I do not fall into low income, single or childess categories but I would happily pay more tax in order to allow such members of society to make ends meet. The risk is that the incentive to go to work is removed for these people. That makes no economic sense at all. I am frankly disgusted.

John Mann's booklet has proved extremely useful in our area. We (myself and some neighbours) have been able to challenge local bodies about what they should be doing and what they are actually doing. Thank you Mr Mann.

What have you been doing about Anti-Social Behavour?

Do you think it right that the Social Security are allowed to make rent and council tax arrear deductions from your benefit, without your say so? I worked for 70 weeks in 2002/2003, was granted housing benefit then it was taken back. So I charged myself full rent for 70wks. It was £1000.00+. I have finished paying it off, I have kept every receipt and am now having a further £121.90 taken from my benefit. I have never been in rent arrears in my life up to this point. WHY after 5 years of regular arrears payments would I stop paying, leaving £121.90 on my account. I do not owe this money, yet there is nothing I can do about it. I may be on benefits, but it's my income and no-one should be allowed to take money from it without my say so. I am being charged £121.90 more than full rent.No housing benefits included. There were weeks when I was paid less than my rent. I also have every payslip. I loved that job and I left it because of this. The manager was looking into Human Rights court over this, or something...but I was finding it far too stressful and reluctantly left. No incentive to return to work ever again.
