Saying it with flowers

May The Council is a big organisation and inevitably the bureaucracy doesn’t always work as well as we would want.  A few weeks ago I heard that a lady of 103 had been sent a bill she wasn’t responsible for by the council and was quite understandably rather annoyed.  The staff in the Council department concerned sorted this out and apologised but I thought May deserved something more.  So a few days ago I called on her with a bunch of flowers to say sorry in person.  May has lived here whole life in Lewisham and was in good form but didn’t tell me what the secret of long life was!  If any other 103 year olds have problems with the council I will be very happy to call on them too as I usually only get to meet youngsters of 100.
