Karen Jennings opposes proposed lap-dancing club in Wood Green

Karen Jennings, Labour’s Parliamentary candidate for Hornsey and Wood Green, is supporting residents in their campaign to stop a lap-dancing club from opening in Wood Green. The former Charlie Brown’s bar on Wood Green High Road is the subject of a licensing application to turn it into a lap-dancing club.

Karen Jennings said:

“Speaking to residents in Wood Green, it is clear that most people don’t want these sorts of clubs in our area. Wood Green has a proud history of being a welcoming, family-friendly area and I’m concerned that the opening of a lap-dancing club will put that at risk. These clubs can be associated with organised crime, trafficking and with public order issues and it is only fair that residents should have a strong voice in saying whether they want them or not

Haringey’s Labour councillors have pledged to opt-in to new powers being introduced by the Government that would allow Councils to stop lap-dancing clubs from opening up in their areas.
