Peter Roberts Labour's Parliamentary spokesperson for North East Cambridgeshire is encouraging the local residents to take advantage of the Labour Government's boiler scrappage scheme to get a new boiler after the big freeze.

The new scheme will sustain work for the heating industry during the recession, save qualifying families around £200 per year on fuel bills, as well as helping the environment.  It is estimated that there could be up to 300 household across Fenland with working "G-rated" boilers eligible to apply for a voucher entitling them to £400 off the price of a new, modern "A rated" boiler or a renewable heating system, like a biomass boiler or a heat pump.

Peter Roberts said: "After one of the coldest spells of weather in living memory I would hope that everyone can have easy access to efficiently generated hot water and heating - a modern boiler can make that happen."

"This Labour initiative is making sure that people in Fenland can afford to get a new boiler now, to replace their old boilers that are bad for the environment and bad for wallets. Lower your bills and do your bit for the environment - I would encourage every eligible household to take advantage of this scheme." added Peter.
