Not a plastic cupShortly after I was elected I tried to get the Tory administration interested in Throw Out Shopping (TOS) bags and how to make Gloucester a TOS-free City. All the right noises were made, debate happened and action was agreed but......little actual progress. Not surprising when we spent 5 months without a Cabinet Member for the Environment!

Anyhow, early this year I mentioned at Full Council that Council organisations use a lot of plastic cups - mostly for drinks at concerts etc. I asked if we could see if there was an alternative? The Tories agreed to investigate and since then .......little actual progress.

I picked up the cup in the picture at the Wychwood festival. It's made of corn starch and completely biodegradeable. Holds beer and then you throw it away!
