Tiffin Cup Launch 2008

THE TIFFIN CUP 2008

The MP’s Quest: Search for the best South Asian restaurant in Britain

The Tiffin Club proudly presented the launch of the third Tiffin Cup competition on Tuesday 6th May. Following the success of the Tiffin over the last 2 years, MPs have once again been asked to nominate a restaurant in their constituency to compete to be named the best South Asian restaurant in Britain. The competition has increased in popularity since it’s formation in 2006, we hope to build upon this, encouraging the participation of as many constituencies as possible, further celebrating the diversity of British culture and recognising the importance of South Asian cuisine in this country.

The Tiffin Cup is awarded every year by the Tiffin Club of MPs. Originally formed in 2006 by John Barrett MP, Michael Fabricant MP and Keith Vaz MP, the aim is to not only applaud the quality of South Asian food in Britain but to also raise much needed money for charity. This year the competition is in aid of Friends in Village Development Bangladesh and ROKO Cancer.

The Quilon Restaurant, Buckingham Gate, London  was the place chosen to host is the launch of the Tiffin Cup 2008.

Mr Vaz said “We are looking forward to another chance to sample some of the best offerings of Indian food in Britain. At the same time we also hope to encourage some healthy competition amongst MPs from all the parties, all while raising money for a worthy charity.”
