Labour in Wales | ||
Building a better Wales is about building a Wales that is fairer, stronger and greener. Labour has worked, and will continue to work, with the people of Wales to build a country that is successful, confident, and ambitious. Building on the Welsh Economy Labour is proud to have been the party to have delivered unprecedented levels of economic stability and prosperity. The Welsh economy now has strong foundations in place for future success. Since 1999, Wales has seen the biggest drop in unemployment of any part of the United Kingdom and a rise of 140,000 in the total number of new jobs - clearly demonstrating the difference that the Labour Assembly Government is making, and will continue to make, to the lives of the people of Wales.

Building on the Welsh NHS
Labour is and always will be the party of the NHS. We have doubled investment in the NHS and today there are more nurses, doctors and dentists, and better patient care and falling waiting times. We are working to encourage people to lead healthier lives. This has included introducing free swimming for pensioners in all local council swimming pools and free swimming in local council pools during school holidays for school children.

Building on Welsh Education
Education and skills are at the heart of our vision for a fairer and more prosperous Wales. In Wales our investment in education has resulted in the highest ever levels of achievement in our schools. We are committed to ensuring that we have the skills for success in the future and for every child and every adult to have the opportunity to realise their full potential. The most corrosive legacy left by the Tories was the level of child poverty in Wales. Welsh Labour will take action to eradicate child poverty by 2020.
