Decent Standard for Homes

The government forced local councils to bring their homes up to a decent standard by 2010.  Thanks to the Labour led administration at the time, Brent council were able to complete them in good time. Unfortunately though, due the new administration that took over the council in 2006 this scheme has not been carried out by housing associations or alternative properties that the council uses to house those in temporary accommodation.

I have therefore started a campaign to bring homes that have been used to house people on the housing waiting list to a decent standard too.

On my walkabouts across the constituency, I have met many families who have been temporarily housed by the council in unacceptable conditions and am fighting for them to either be moved into suitable conditions or for their homes to be repaired.
