We Want Wardens Labour and communities in Norwich have fought hard against Lib Dem attempts to undermine and break up the Community Wardens, which currently work in the SouthEast part of the city. Fair deal for leaseholders Over three years ago Charles Clarke took up the cases of Norwich City Council leaseholders who felt they had been grossly overcharged for work which in many cases did not even need to be carried out. Sure Start to a good life Charles Clarke recently opened the brand new SureStart centre in Clover Hill, Bowthorpe. Sufolk Square Problems around Jenny Lind Park in Vauxhall Street led the community to campaign for a special ‘Alcohol Disorder Zone' to be extended. Joining and supporting the St Stephens Community Forum in their campaign has brought success! Robin Hood Road Residents in Tuckswood have been working hard with Cllr Keith Driver to get pavements improved and overgrown dangerous trees removed. Charles Clarke has helped the campaign. Marlpit Community Centre The Labour government New Deal for Communities money has helped make a real difference in North Earlham, Larkman and Marlpit. Charles Clarke MP took the opportunity to visit the centre, together with Cllr Harriet Panting and former councillor John Shepher Fighting for Community Wardens Community Wardens have made a real difference in Norwich in reducing anti social behaviour and being the ‘eyes and ears' on the street. Concrete Block Properties Down The derelict and abandoned concrete block properties around Colman Road have been pulled down and redeveloped with money and support from the Labour government. Clean Up Larkman Campaign The standard of street cleaning across many estates is not up to standard. Charles Clarke MP is working with residents to put pressure on the Council to ensure the area is properly cleaned. CCTV in Larkman Working with community and Cllr Harriet Panting in North Earlham the Larkman First and Middle School has now been protected with CCTV cameras. Bargate Court Working with residents in Bargate Court to get special door entry systems installed to protect homes. Alley Gates in Norwich Across Norwich Charles Clarke has been working with communities to expand the alley-gate scheme. Over 400 gates have been installed, helping to slash burglary.
