STatement from Kroll: XL Leisure Group & subsidiaries (in Administration)

Today (Friday September 12, 2008), Alastair Beveridge, Nick Cropper, Simon Appell and Stuart Mackellar, Partners at Kroll’s Corporate Advisory and Restructuring Group, were appointed as Joint Administrators of XL Leisure Group plc and its subsidiaries* (the UK Group) in the United Kingdom on application by their directors.

Headquartered in Crawley, Sussex, the tour operating group services 50 destinations and employs approximately 1,700 people worldwide.

As a result of the funding and cash flow issues affecting the business, the UK Group has ceased to operate.

Customers who booked packages and flights with group tour operators are protected by the CAA's ATOL scheme.  Customers who bought a flight from XL Airways are not protected: however we understand that the CAA will endeavour to offer these customers flights, but there will be a fee to cover the cost.

The CAA has published information at www.atol.org.uk for customers who have purchased holiday packages. These customers with concerns about their bookings should contact their travel agent or tour representative in the first instance. The CAA has also made an Emergency Helpline - +44 289 185 6547 - available to customers in particular distress.

The Joint Administrators have set up Customer Helplines for customers who have purchased flights directly from the UK Group. Customers abroad should call +44 208 242 4783. Customers calling from within the UK should call the free helpline 0800 068 8991.

Promoted by Ray Collins, General Secretary, the Labour Party, on behalf of the Labour Party, both at 39 Victoria Street, London, SW1H 0HA.
