Help with Travel

The Government has delayed the 2 pence per litre increase in fuel duty that was due to take place on 1 October 2008. This means that fuel duty rates will remain at 50.35 pence per litre after 1 October this year. This is 17 per cent lower in real terms than in 1999

The Department for Transport can also give you advice on how you can reduce your fuel costs. You may also be eligible for further support:

· If you are over 60 or disabled you are entitled to free England-wide off-peak bus travel

· If you are under 16 or under 18 in full time education you can travel for free on buses and trams in London and some other metropolitan areas.

· If you're aged 70 or over, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has abolished the fee for a three year driving license and you can now renew your license for free.
