The Farepak Liquidation Committee has sanctioned the liquidators’ recommendation to issue proceedings against a number of parties, in an attempt to secure further monies for the benefit of creditors, which includes customers and agents. (see: http://www.farepak.co.uk/) 

Anne said: 

“I am glad things are moving fast and I am extremely pleased that at last we are getting closer to the three things I asked for: justice in courts, financial justice and the prospect of better regulation, for the sake of the Farepak victims.”

Regarding BERR’s statement of 12th May she said: 

“I am very pleased that the report into Farepak has at last been completed and I welcome the minister's statement. Although I share the Farepak savers' wish to find out exactly what happened, like them I also want justice. It would be an excellent outcome if the report could be used as evidence for a future prosecution additional to the proceedings issued by the liquidator, so I completely understand why it has to remain under wraps. I will be pressing the minister, Gareth Thomas, for the timings of the QC's response on possible prosecutions.”

“It is very good news that the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform is looking at further regulation of the Christmas Savings sector. Following discussions with the minister in April, I withdrew my own bill to regulate Christmas Savings schemes as I was satisfied that BERR was seriously looking at this.”
